It's pretty common for people of a certain political point of view to talk about racism against whites and how civil rights advocates are actually anti-white. That's it's whites who are the real victims here. And when you ask such people if their apparent antipathy toward non-whites make them racist, they will generally answer with something to the effect of, "No, because racism is the belief that the color of someone's skin makes them inferior, and I don't believe that."
Fair enough.
But that does raise one small question. When has anyone ever suggested that whites are inferior? I personally have never run across anyone claiming that. Now I'm sure that if you scour the far reaches of the internet you can find someone who's said such a thing, as is true of virtually any statement. But that's besides the point. That's not what any civil rights groups are saying.
So it's clear that these folks have one narrow definition of racism when it's whites being racist against non-whites, and a very different, very broad definition of racism when it's racism against whites.
Yes, it's certainly true that there are a lot of people out there who are angry at whites. Can you honestly say that they don't have good reason? And there are even people who hate whites. But if you want to call that out as racism, you have to accept that makes whites who dislike other races racist as well. We're all human. We all get angry and resentful when we feel we've been wronged. We all fear the outsiders. There's nothing wrong with having those feelings. But letting yourself be ruled by that fear and acting on it, lashing out at others is wrong.

Who Says Genealogy is Boring?
Picture this scene: it's the 1920's and one of the city's leading citizens, an elderly gentleman of means, finds himself a widower and childless. He has whirlwind romance with a much younger woman and the two of them quietly travel to a seaside resort to be married away from the limelight. The day after the ceremony the gentleman suddenly falls ill and dies four days later.
It sounds like the plot of an Agatha Christie novel, don't you think? And yet it's a true story! I was doing some digging into my family tree and found this intriguing tale.
This distinguished looking gent is Edward Creighton, my great-great-granduncle. Born in 1852
Is This Really a Mystery?
So Melania Trump went over the Donald's head and demanded in the press that deputy national security advisor Mira Ricardel be fired. And the nation is caught up in speculation over why Melania would take such an extraordinary step. Come on guys, is this really some huge mystery? This is Trump we're talking about. Melania caught the Donald in bed with Ricardel. Yes, that's speculation, but it's the obvious answer, isn't it?
Government Shutdown: Enough Already
It's time for Chuck Schumer and the Senate Democrats to throw in the towel and vote for a clean Continuing Resolution. The last few times we've been through this nonsense I've said that it's irresponsible to hold government funding hostage. And I see no way I could honestly backtrack on that now, even if I wanted to.
I've heard Democrats arguing that it's different this time because they are doing this to protect the Dreamers. Now I happen to think that protecting the Dreamers is a moral imperative, and the idea of deporting American kids because of what their parents did is just morally repugnant. But that's an argument that the ends ju
The Best Year in History
Nicholas Kristof just reminded me of something that I think we should all take a minute to think about.
2017 was the best year in human history.
No, seriously, it was. Despite the tweet storms, political insanity, nuclear saber rattling, terrorism, and everything else, 2017 was a better year for more people than ever before. It's easy to lose sight of in the midst of all this craziness, but a smaller portion of humanity lived this past year in peace and prosperity than ever before. A larger percentage of people in the world suffered from poverty, hunger, and illiteracy than ever before. A smaller portion of children died than ever befor

No, they believe other races are inferior hence why they shame whites for being white and hold whites to higher standards.
